Ford Escape Recall, throttle-braking danger

According to a report from, Ford has announced a recall of all 2012 Ford Escape vehicles sold - about 10,000 cars so far in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Federal safety investigators say the carpet padding on the center console can slide out of place and make it hard to operate the brake and gas pedal, which can lead to an accident.

This preliminary, early announcement will be followed shortly by the actual recall announcement by federal safety investigators, which will be posted here in the coming days.

Meanwhile, drive carefully out there.
