MBUSA is Recalling Certain Vehicles Due to Passenger Airbag May Not Deploy Properly

Summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC63 AMG Coupe, GLC63S AMG Coupe, and GLC63 vehicles. In the event of a crash, the frontal air bag may have a delayed deployment for certain unbelted front seat passengers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Remedy
MBUSA has notified owners, and dealers will update the air bag control unit software parameters, free of charge. An interim letter was mailed to owners on February 8, 2019 to notify them of the issue. A second notification will be sent when the remedy is available. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
